Beam is an experiment with Mimblewimble to offer superior base layer scalability by reducing the amount of data put through and stored in the blockchain and offering complete base layer privacy. Unlike Grin, another Mimblewimble implementation, Beam's team is fully public and raised venture funding. Beam is a Proof-of-Work (PoW) coin with a disinflationary emission schedule. Beam development is funded by the Founders' reward mechanism.
