IOHK, the company behind Cardano has revealed that 64% of the pools have been already upgraded to the 1.29.0 Alonzo node ahead of the mainnet update that’s scheduled to take place on September 12th.

Cardano stake pools are preparing for <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/iohk-submits-alonzo-upgrade-proposal-to-cardano-testnet/">the Alonzo hard fork</a> following which the Smart Contract functionality will be finally deployed on the blockchain.

According to the Cardano network monitoring resource <a href="https://twitter.com/InputOutputHK/status/1434837132317765634" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">PoolTool</a>, 64% of Cardano stake pools are ready for the Alonzo upgrade.

Cardano developers are expecting 80% of the pools to be ready by September 12, the date for which the hard fork event will activate the smart contracts on the main mainnet.

Similar to Bitcoin miners, the participation pools of Cardano are the nodes of the network responsible for processing transactions and producing new blocks for its new Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.

<h2>Charles Hoskinson Clarifies Project's Failure</h2>
Few days after updating Cardano in the test network, the project faced severe criticism due to its alleged structural failures.

Earlier this week, IOHK CEO and Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson posted a video where he addressed the recent smear campaign against Cardano initiated by Anthony Sassano, the co-founder of Ethhub.io. and a well-known member of the Ethereum community.

Apparently, Sassano posted screenshots from Reddit on his Twitter page, indicating that the Minswap swap exchange that went live on Cardano had some problems.

It appears that the network’s EUTXO could handle just one transaction per block, making Minswap useless and leading many to think that the smart contracts being tested on Cardano don’t work and that their blockchain is broken. Hoskinson <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/charles-hoskinson-calls-cardanos-recent-accusations-as-noise-and-fud/">clarifies</a> this by calling it nothing but a “noise and FUD.”
