Bitmain, a firm that designs ASIC chips for bitcoin mining has <a href="https://blog.bitmain.com/en/bitmains-antminer-e3-firmware-update/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">announced </a>the release of an updated firmware of the Antminer E3. Antminer E3 is the first ASIC miner which is based on Ethereum. Through this step, the miners of Ethereum will be able to use the machine freely. Now, there will not be any worries related to the obsolescence of the machine.

According to a few media reports, it came out that the equipment developed by Bitmain which was used for mining Ethereum will be of no use. By the next month, the equipment will not be relevant anymore and will be of no use. 
<h2>Bitmain Antminer E3 already stopped working</h2>
There were certain claims that were made by a miner regarding a huge decline in the hash rate. These allegations were made by the altcoin mining pool operators and were completely based on the hash rate outputs.

One of the miners was completely disappointed which is indicated through a blog post which was published in February end. According to that blog post, Antminer E3 which was supposed to continue mining had already stopped doing it.
<h2>Final block height of E3 is 11,400,000</h2>
It has been reported by Bitmain that by updating the mining firmware the miners will continue using Antminer E3 after April also. Although it is still not clear how much time this Antminer will continue mining. A report by Bitmain has revealed that the final block height of E3 is 11,400,000. This clearly indicated that mining on E3 will be continued at least till October 2020.

The issue which was related to the growth of the Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) has also been fixed under the new firmware. This issue has been fixed as the usage of Double Date Rate (DDR) memory has been expanded. The need to expand memory was due to the size of DAG files as these files require a lot of space
