BitMEX Appoints Alexander Höptner as New CEO
Alexander Höptner will replace interim CEO Vivien Khoo after Arthur Hayes had to step down in the wake of twin lawsuits from the Commodities Futures Trading Commission and the Department of Justice.
The newly appointed CEO will report directly to 100x Group Chairman Dr. David Wong and subsequently join the board of directors.
In the announcement release, Dr. David Wong, chairman of 100x Group, stated:
“Alex joins us at a timely moment when the company is undergoing a transformational journey into our next stage of growth and development, and I am confident that with his experience he will make a major contribution”
Höptner has previous experiences in working for an executive position at Deutsche Börse AG, operator of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. He worked there for almost 15 years before leaving it in 2016 to find two startups for trading virtual assets.
New CEO Comes With Key Leadership Experience
Under Höptner’s leadership, the Börse Stuttgart exchange became one of the key pioneers in digital asset trading in Germany.
The exchange became the country’s first regulated crypto trading platform. It also went on to become the European Union’s first conventional exchange to become a regulated crypto multilateral trading facility.
Alex Höptner comments on joining 100x Group:
“I am proud to join 100x Group because I share the global ambition and audacity of its founders and employees to create an ecosystem of cryptocurrency technology that will improve lives. The future of this industry will increasingly belong to those who provide a regulated trading environment that is innovative, liquid, and fair for institutional and retail investors alike.”
