The United States Departement of Homeland Security (DHS) recently <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/452513750/CISA-Guidance-on-Essential-Critical-Infrastructure-Workers-1-20-508c#from_embed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> a memo stating that the “blockchain managers” would also be among the essential Critical Infrastructure workers in the country.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) of DHS mentioned in the memo, amid lockdown due to coronavirus, the “critical infrastructure industry” workers would have to keep working like their normal schedules.

While making an announcement, the CISA in the document stated, 
<blockquote>“If you work in the critical infrastructure industry, as defined by the Department of Homeland Security, such as healthcare services and pharmaceutical and food supply, you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule”.</blockquote>
<h2>Other Critical Infrastructure Industries</h2>
Along with the blockchain manager, the memorandum has labelled the healthcare, pharmaceutical and food supply as the “critical infrastructure industries”.

According to the reports, before making the list CISA consulted the federal agency partners, industry experts, and State and local officials. It appears that the CISA have seen some potential in distributed ledger technology (DLT), therefore, it has included blockchain manager within critical infrastructure industries.
<h2>Countries Taking Help Of Blockchain Technology</h2>
A suggests that presently, China has been using the blockchain technology in more than 20 applications so that they could help the government to control the spread of COVID-19. The blockchain technology applications used by the Chinese Government manages and tracks the data related to the health record and medical supplies.

The DLT platform of Alipay has proven to be very effective in China. With the help of this platform, the public could track donations by the charitable trust.

A report suggests that insurers of Hong Kong have been using the DLT to improve the paperwork process related to medical claims.
