A research paper by the Calibra team of Facebook suggests some new methods to test Byzantine fault tolerance (BFT).

While innovating Calibra, which is also popular as Twin, the network would involve a lightweight method for testing the implementation of BFT.
<h2>BFT Lacks Decent Strategy</h2>
According to the <a href="https://arxiv.org/pdf/2004.10617.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">research paper</a>, people have been studying the BFT system for a long time, regarding it, many kinds of research have been out. Still, this field does not have a decent strategy for testing the implementation of BFT.

The researchers believe that while testing BFT, two particular nodes would run on the network with the same identity to copy the behaviour of Byzantine.

Calibra has stated that the operators of Twins are allowed to systematically create a Byzantine attack scenario, then they can execute it in a controlled manner and later they could monitor the desired protocol properties.

The concept of BFT was occupied from an academic paper which was published in the year 1982 by Leslie Lamport, Robert Shostak and Marshall Pease.

According to a metaphor, the Byzantine group manages the whole situation and its forces protect the castle and prepare for the attack.

Now it is important that while attacking a traitor, who is among them, all parties should be together and take action at the same time.
<h2>Twins To Recreate BFT Protocols</h2>
In terms of blockchain, metaphor is a challenge for the networks that have been seeking coordination in the middle of threat, which is being caused by malicious actors.

Recently, while talking about BFT implementation, the co-creator of Calibra, David Marcus, has tweeted, “One of my greatest joys at work is getting to work with some of the brightest and most capable people in the industry”.

Marcus appreciates his team’s work and stated that they have published a research paper on BFT implementations’ testing.

The research paper suggested that for recreating several attacks of BFT protocols, Twins is used.
