Cardano’s much-anticipated Alonzo Purple upgrade has begun onboarding users to its testnet as per schedule, as revealed by the IOHK team on Twitter. This mark is the milestone event for the ADA community since it will be the first fully public Cardano testnet to support smart contracts.
<h2><strong>Cardano's Alonzo Purple Public Testnet Goes Live</strong></h2>
In a <a href="https://twitter.com/InputOutputHK/status/1423704788512952331" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Twitter thread</a> series, the research and development company behind Cardano blockchain, IOHK has announced on onboarding users for its Alonzo Purple public testnet, which means all members of the Plutus pioneer program and all stake pool operators and exchanges can participate, wherein Alonzo Blue and Alonzo White were limited to 50 users and 500 users, respectively:

The IOHK team also said that it’s been coordinating with crypto exchanges in preparation for the update to ensure that ADA holders can smoothly transition into Cardano’s smart contract era.

Full support for smart contracts on the network is expected to reach by the end of <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/everything-you-need-to-know-about-cardanos-mainnet-alonzo-launch/">August</a> or early September as confirmed by the IOHK team on Twitter:

Speaking of the update on Twitter, Cardano CEO and founder of IOHK Charles Hoskinson, <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/charles-hoskinson-claims-cardano-network-has-thousands-of-assets/">said</a> via a video on Twitter:
