Emilie Choi, President of Coinbase Global Inc., has <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-09-22/coinbase-s-choi-calls-for-common-sense-in-crypto-regulation" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">requested </a>authorities provide an “even playing field” in the crypto regulation sector.
<h2>Coinbase CEO Asks For ‘Even Playing Field’ In Crypto Regulation Sector</h2>
Choi requested openness, clarity, and justice from authorities at Messari’s Mainnet conference in New York. The Coinbase President appeared remotely and advocated for ‘common-sense rules. 
“We simply want to make sure that there is an even playing field for crypto companies and other financial service providers, Choi said. We do not want to get to the point where there are only common-sense laws and regulations.”
The move comes after the firm canceled plans for its next offering. Coinbase has intended to launch a new product called Lend. 

This service provided crypto investors with the opportunity to earn additional returns on their investments by lending out their coins.

The SEC, on the other hand, went after Coinbase and its Lend program. The firm was investigated by US regulators who demanded personnel records and names on the product waitlist, as well as threatening a lawsuit. 

Despite the SEC criticisms, Coinbase maintained a strong network of supporters. <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/mark-cuban-advises-coinbase-to-go-on-the-offensive-against-sec/">Mark Cuban,</a> a celebrity investor suggested that the firm take an “aggressive” stance against authorities.

Coinbase is now the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States. After going public on the Nasdaq, its worth hovered around $89 billion. 

US Customs and Immigration even acquired forensic tools from Coinbase earlier this year.
<h2>Crypto Regulatory Repression</h2>
Regulators in the United States have recently strengthened their control of the cryptocurrency business. 

Aside from the Coinbase investigation and potential <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/sec-wants-to-sue-coinbase-over-its-crypto-lending-product/">lawsuit</a>, the SEC has targeted another big cryptocurrency business. 

The SEC has also launched an investigation into Uniswap, as revealed earlier this month.

While lawmakers debate crypto tax requirements, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler outlined a plan for overall crypto business rules. 

Regulators hoped to have some sort of crypto supervision in place by the end of September.

Meanwhile, the cryptocurrency sector is still in a state of flux. Regulation, according to certain participants, such as Zumo CEO Nick Jones is the industry's greatest danger.
