Around 10:00 AM yesterday, a commercial shop lot unit in Muara Tabuan has been raided by the police department after it came to notice that the company is stealing electricity for crypto mining. As <a href="https://www.malaymail.com/news/malaysia/2021/10/16/cops-bust-illegal-crypto-mining-in-muara-tabuan-90-machines-seized/2013783" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">revealed</a>, two male suspects aged 24 and 44 years old have been arrested and they were working as caretakers of the premises. 
<h2>Cops Bust Illegal Crypto Mining Spot in Muara Tabuan</h2>
In accordance with the statement released by Ahsom Bajah, the Chief ACP in District Police Department:
<blockquote>“It is estimated that the premises had mined about RM184,000 worth of cryptocurrencies in the last eight months.”</blockquote>
It has also been revealed that the police were also tracking down the owner of the premises and disclosed that the premises have been <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/what-is-the-use-of-asic-in-mining-cryptocurrency/">mining crypto</a> since the month of February of this year.

The police have reportedly seized one computer unit, 90 cryptocurrency mining rigs, an internet modem, and other mining equipment during their raid and the case was investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code and Section 33(5) of the Sarawak Electrical Ordinance. 

In addition to this, it should be noted that during the operation, a total of 1200 cryptocurrency mining rigs worth value RM1.74 million were seized from a factory that was transformed into a mining outlet.

Moreover, the Ministry of Utilities and Sarawak Energy (SEB) have unveiled the largest electricity theft cases with the inclusion of cryptocurrency mining in Sarawak at Demak Laut.

As revealed, the inspections done by the technical team of Sarawak Energy have led to the <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/malaysian-authorities-destroy-more-than-1000-btc-mining-rigs/">discovery</a> of direct tapping of cables and electricity theft.
