The developers of Pokemon GO are joining hands with crypto debit card firm Folds to build a new metaverse project based on augmented reality that allows gamers a chance to <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/long-term-bitcoin-investors-are-at-an-all-time-high-glassnode/">earn</a> Bitcoin while playing the game.

According to an official <a href="https://blog.foldapp.com/the-metaverse/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">announcement</a>, the creator behind Pokemon GO Niantic is partnering with Fold crypto debit company to launch a "play-to-earn" augmented reality game that allows players the chance to earn Bitcoin.

Dubbed Fold AR, the new game, unlike the Pokemon Go and other Ninatic games which are set on virtual places based on real world location, <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/axie-infinity-guild-cgu-offers-scholarships-allowing-players-into-the-fantasy-play-to-earn-nft-game/">the latest game</a> is based on walking around and collecting Bitcoin by breaking blocks.  Set between 1 and 50 foot distance from the player at every 10 minutes distance, the blocks reflect the rate of real Bitcoin mining. The timing is meant to symbolize the time that it takes to mine for one Bitcoin.

Once a block has spawned, players will tap on it to reveal a puzzle. Upon completing the puzzle, they’ll be rewarded Satoshis, the smallest unit of Bitcoin and extra spins for rewards on their Fold Card, as well as time extensions and orange pills that protect from “harmful surprises” that threaten to take away the Bitcoin one has earned so far.

Will Reeves, the CEO of Fold, and David Steinbroner, the Community Manager, wrote in the announcement:

<h2><strong>Fold AR Beta is Now Live</strong></h2>
Currently, Fold AR is just a beta, with the full experience arriving sometime in 2022, and it will act as a “natural extension of the Fold App”. When the full version drops, additional new features will be included with a geocaching-like multiplayer system that will let users hide their Bitcoins for friends so that they can find it later or even non-fungible tokens or NFTs.
