Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economy and Finance, praises Tezos as a blockchain project that is more promising, more effective and less energy-consuming via a <a href="https://twitter.com/AMangiero/status/1118094468224311296">tweet</a>.
The Minister had previously stated that the development of the blockchain ecosystem is important for the French government because the technology can potentially contribute to the modernization of businesses and the economy.

The French government has already identified over 200 ground-breaking blockchain-based projects developed in France, and it is reported that the Bank of France has recently tested a Tezos node. 

However, it seems that France doesn’t share the same outlook towards all cryptocurrencies, especially <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/facebook-libra-to-meet-25-central-banks-regarding-regulations/">LIBRA</a>. 

In a joint statement, representatives from both France and Germany indirectly bashed Libra. They said that no private entity should claim monetary power, which is vital to the sovereignty of countries.

Globally, governments are worried that Mark Zuckerberg would capitalize on the publicity surrounding cryptocurrencies and gather info from millions 

of individuals, which may be sold off to private entities.
<h2>The French Minister is a Big Fan of Tezos</h2>
Le Maire had <a href="https://www.fxstreet.com/cryptocurrencies/news/tezos-xtz-spikes-33-in-seven-days-support-by-french-finance-minister-positive-remarks-201904190739">earlier</a> spoken of Tezos at the 2019 Blockchain Conference held in Paris. In the event, he said that the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_of_France">Bank of France</a> is testing a Tezos node, intending to use the protocol at central and commercial banks based in France:
<blockquote>“I am thinking in particular of Tezos, which allows the development of a blockchain protocol overcoming the known defects of public blockchains.”</blockquote>
The initiative was also <a href="https://twitter.com/tbedoin?lang=en">confirmed</a> on Twitter by Thierry Bedoin, the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of the Bank of France.

The digital wing of the bank of France has continued to keep tabs on <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/tag/stellar/">Tezos price prediction</a>, with the bank confirming they are watching/studying the <a href="https://tezos.foundation">Tezos Foundation</a> and their continuing development.

France plans to invest 4.5 billion euros in innovative projects, including those based on blockchain, to create a technological edge to Europe to compete with the Chinese and American technology titans.
<h2>The Foundation’s Growing Influence</h2>
Tezos Foundation seems to be getting plenty of attention from traditional financial giants. In July 2019, Tezos <a href="https://tezos.foundation/news/btg-pactual-and-dalma-capital-to-utilize-tezos-blockchain-for-security-token-offerings-stos">entered</a> a $1billion partnership with Latin America’s biggest bank, BTG Pactual.

Earlier in the year, the Foundation had <a href="https://tezos.foundation/news/announcing-first-cohort-of-ecosystem-grants-and-support-for-new-block-explorers-new-rfp-issued">introduced</a> the 1st cohort, issuance of four grants, channeled towards making Tezos development and blockchain analysis more inclusive and user-friendly. 

Then just recently, on September 10th, 2019, The Tezos Foundation <a href="https://tezos.foundation/news/announcing-second-cohort-of-tezos-ecosystem-grants">announced</a> the 2nd cohort, issuance of 14 new grants to projects submitted in response to its most <a href="https://tezos.foundation/news/announcing-first-cohort-of-ecosystem-grants-and-support-for-new-block-explorers-new-rfp-issued">recent</a> request for proposals (RFP).
