The American FBI aids German Police in <a href="https://torrentfreak.com/fbi-help-german-authorities-secure-29-7m-in-crypto-from-pirate-streaming-site-200806/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">confiscating</a> around $30 million worth of cryptocurrencies that are related to illegal movie streaming site Movie2K.

Although the site was shut down in the year 2013, because of the copyright infringement, it’s two main operators were still providing pirated copies of films. From the year 2013 to 2018, they had distributed more than 880,000 pirated movies among the users with the help of their allies.
<h2>Movie2.k Operator Is In Custody </h2>
One of the two operators had been custody of German Police authority since the year 2019 and he had been charged with operating illegal streaming services. 

The Movie2k allowed the users to watch pirated movies without even downloading them.

On August 03, a public statement has been released by the Dresden Public Prosecutor’s Office, which stated that one of the programmers helped the operators in forfeiting Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash worth around $30 million.

The Movie2k was doing a good business, it generated revenue and earned a lot of profit from the advertisement. It has alleged that the two operators had been using the profit and revenue since mid-2012, to purchase Bitcoin in a huge quantity.
<h2>Movie2.K Programmer Agrees To Help Authority</h2>
It has been suspected that the programmer of Movie2K had obtained 22,000 BTC during the purchase and later he used those cryptos to buy properties through Berlin real estate firm. 

The programmer might also be involved in commercial money laundering, as the local authorities have suspected some links in Berlin.

The German Federal Criminal Police Office started a joint investigation into the matter along with the FBI and found out that the streaming site has Bitcoin worth $30 million.

According to the reports, the programmer has admitted his crime and he would be helping the authorities in tracing the second operator.

As per Der Spiegel, a local news outlet in Germany, presently the main operator who is also the founder of Movie2k.to has been sentenced to serve in the prison for four and a half years.
