Popular cryptocurrency exchange Huobi has become a member of the Blockchain Turkey Platform to better coordinate with local players on blockchain efforts. Huobi’s inclusion in the platform has come five months after it had officially entered the Turkish market.
What is Blockchain Turkey Platform?
Blockchain Turkey Platform is an independent, non-profit organization that was founded by the Turkish Informatics Foundation in 2018. It aims to create and sustain a healthy blockchain ecosystem in Turkey. It has included members from a wide range of industries, including banking, finance, technology, venture capitalism, and crypto industries.
Platinum Membership for Huobi
In a press release, the crypto exchange revealed that Huobi had joined the platform as a “Platinum” member. In doing so, it has become the first global cryptocurrency exchange to become a part of the Blockchain Turkey Platform. Huobi’s General Manager Alphan Gogus said that they believe in the significance of maintaining blockchain-driven development together. He further added that Huobi supported BCTR’s vision to consolidate Turkey’s regional dominance in a decentralized system.
Huobi’s arrival at the Blockchain Turkey Platform is just one of the many steps that it has taken lately to boost the crypto space. Recently, Huobi had launched a new partnership with fam properties, a tech-based real estate agency in Dubai. It also had plans underway to start a fiat gateway in Indonesia for trading fiat-crypto between Tether (USDT) and Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
Turkey: The Emerging Hub for Global Initiatives
Huobi’s efforts in Turkey began with the establishment of a local office at the Eurasian Blockchain Summit last year in October. The cryptocurrency exchange had brought many renowned blockchain experts to the summit, which indicated their desire to align themselves with Turkey’s blockchain initiatives. Highlighting Turkey’s role, Gogus also said that Turkey has the potential to become a pioneer in blockchain technology, not only in the region but globally. He further said that by joining the Blockchain Turkey Platform, Huobi would seek to exchange their knowledge and global expertise with key local players to boost the blockchain ecosystem.
