The former executive of JPMorgan, Sandie O’Connor has <a href="https://ripple.com/insights/ripple-adds-sandie-oconnor-to-board-of-directors/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">joined</a> Ripple as a member of its board of directors. The former head of regulatory affairs at JPMorgan will now serve as an advisor on government relations and regulatory initiatives at Ripple. O’Connor comes with more than 30 years of leadership experience. In April 2019, she retired as the Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer where she led engagement with G-20 regulators and policymakers on evolving regulation.

In recent months, <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/ripple-planning-aggressive-expansion-of-xrp-by-starting-of-2021/">Ripple</a> has been in steam over the lack of regulatory clarity in the United States. CEO of Ripple, Brad Garlinghouse, even recently stated that the company could move out of the U.S. and move to a different country with clearer regulations.

A key example of such countries includes Japan or Singapore. The decision to hire O’Connor includes the possibility to influence the regulatory authorities from the U.S.

On hiring O’Connor, Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple CEO, said:

O’Connor will join Ripple’s board alongside Ben Lawsky, a former New York regulator; former diplomat Anja Manuel; Yoshitaka Kitao of Japanese financial giant SBI; Craig Phillips, who has held senior roles at BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, and Credit Suisse; Susan Athey, a professor of economics at Stanford Graduate School; and CEO Brad Garlinghouse.
<h2><b>O’Connor Is Also the Member of the Office of Financial Research
</b></h2>
Currently, O’Connor is on the board of Terex Corporation and is a member of the Office of Financial Research. The latter is an independent office created within the Treasury Department to monitor systemic risk followed by the financial crisis of 2008.
