Ripple’s Xpring Proposes Connecting Ethereum and XRP

Over the last weekend, Ethereum proponents such as developers, investors enthusiasts alike attended a three days ETH hackathon held in Denver, Colorado. To much surprise, Ripple’s Xpring proponents were also in attendance of the Ethereum centred Hackathon. Notably, it was the largest Ethereum Hackathon and conference to be held in the United States.

As a matter of fact, Ripple’s Xpring sponsored the Ethereum Denver conference. Why would Ripple sponsor an Ethereum hackathon? Most of you are asking themselves this question, well, there is an in-depth blogpost by Xpring’s Warren Paul Anderson giving details behind the move.

Moving forward, Anderson claims through the blogpost, that Xpring sponsored the ETH Denver because it builds on open-source software. He went on to note that the developers in his team love working with others who do the same thing. In fact, 100% of the Xpring developers mainly focus on developing open-source software.

Additionally, Xpring also sponsored three other challenges at Ethereum’s Gitcoin before the Ethereum Denver. All of the three challenges were fixated on linking ETH and XRP through the InterLedger Protocol (ILP).

The Significance of Interoperability Between ETH and XRP

Furthermore, in the blogpost, Anderson noted the reason for bridging the two crypto assets. He noted that Ethereum had proposed a mission to reach 1 million developers globally. Nevertheless, he suggested that the two should combine efforts and resources to achieve that goal faster since it is quite a challenge.  He said they should work with other platforms in order to enable developers to efficiently build on blockchain.

In addition, crypto tribalism has been a big threat to the cryptocurrency industry. This has been hindering the industry from moving forward as proponents spend much time attacking each other rather than doing the real work.  Xprings ideology of bridging blockchains is a very big leap towards eliminating this menace. A more united co-existence among blockchain supporters will not only foster mass adoption but also aid towards forming a more constructive approach in crypto policymaking.
