Sejong city of South Korea, which has been selected by the government as the testing ground for major smart city solutions, would soon institute a platform based on the blockchain technology for collecting and authenticating the digital identities of self-driving vehicles, an announcement on May 08.
<h2>LG Group Will Help Government Of Sejong City</h2>
A <a href="http://www.ajudaily.com/view/20200508135754098" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> by Aju Business Daily, an Asian news outlet, stated that the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea would design the identity management and verification platform and in this project the internet technology watchdog of the country, Korea &amp; Security Agency will help it.

Regarding this new development, the official of Sejong city has said, “The blockchain-based technology platform will greatly increase the credibility of data by strengthening the security of information shared by cars and their control tower”.

Currently, the autonomous vehicles are not present in Sejong but the city is preparing itself, challenge those crimes which are related to the advancements.

LG CNS which is the technology wing of the LG Group along with autonomous shuttle maker of Korea would be helping the government of Sejong city in generating decentralized identifier (DID).

If there would be any illegal duplicate copy of identity or the self-driving vehicles gets hacked then the blockchain-based encrypted identifier could be used to prevent that.
<h2>Blockchain Is Golden Opportunity, South Korean Government</h2>
According to the reports, multi-layered encryption would be redistributed to those data which are common between cars and on-road facilities. While doing so, the identity verification system would use vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication.

The South Korean Government is very much influenced by blockchain technology. The government is so much interest in this technology that in April 2020, while referring blockchain as a ‘golden opportunity’, it asked the private sector companies to invest in it so that they could use the potential of the blockchain.

The South Korean Government has remained unclear for cryptocurrencies, it still puts an effort to regulate cryptos. The country has also been trying to frame some favourable regulations for the cryptocurrencies.

Additionally, it has been reported that recently, a pilot program has been introduced by the Bank of Korea to testify the strategy for issuing CBDC.
