The South Korean telecom company SK Telecom announced on Monday that it partnered with the blockchain companies AhnLab Blockchain Company and Atomrigs Labs to create and run a digital <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/ripples-xumm-wallet-alerts-users-of-fake-xrp-giveaway-scam/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wallet</a> for managing cryptocurrencies and providing access to Web3.

<h2>Atomrigs Lab Will Develop Digital Wallet Technology</h2>
Seoul-based startup <a href="https://www.atomrigs.io/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Atomrigs Lab</a> will develop the digital wallet technology used by the service. SK Telecom will oversee the service product development and AhnLab Blockchain Company, situated in Pangyo, Gyeonggi. The blockchain division of AhnLab, an antivirus software maker, was established in April. The 2018-founded Atomrigs Lab is a leader in blockchain-related services. Atomrigs Lab's Secure MPC encryption technology will fuel the new digital wallet service's development and operation.
<h2>Access to Blockchain-Issued Tokens</h2>
Users of the SK Telecom wallet will have access to blockchain-issued tokens like <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/financial-stability-board-to-propose-global-rules-for-cryptocurrencies/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">cryptocurrencies</a>, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and "soulbound tokens" (SBTs), which are permanent, non-transferable NFTs for verifiable identifications and certificates, as well as the ability to send and receive these tokens.

According to the Korea Information Society Development Institute, as of 2021, SK Telecom owned about 47% of all mobile phone users in South Korea (KISDI). Ifland, a metaverse run by the telecommunications division of conglomerate SK Group, has an estimated 1.1 million monthly users. The cryptocurrency developed by SK Square, a division of SK Group that invests in information technology, is meant to be utilized within SK's <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/web3-projects-lost-over-2b-to-hackers-this-year-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Web3</a> network.
