Digital currency exchange firm, Coinbase has<a href="https://twitter.com/coinbase/status/1226941687106351105"> added</a> support for USDC and Zcash in the state of New York. The San Francisco-based exchange announced the news through a tweet on Monday, claiming that now<a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/manhattans-luxurious-condo-sold-for-153-million-in-bitcoin-btc/"> New York</a> residents can trade Zcash (ZTC) on Coinbase.com, as well as in its iOS and Android apps.

Moreover, Coinbase initially introduced USDC and Zcash trading in late 2018. However, New York has not been under the supported jurisdiction, until now. In addition, Coinbase U.K. did drop support for Zcash back in August without giving any reason to its users. This move came about when British regulators demanded that exchange firms may need to provide personal details on cryptocurrency transactors.

Nevertheless, Zcash allows its users the choice to shield details about their transactions through a type of zero-knowledge proof dubbed zk-SNARKs. Back in 2018, when Coinbase first added support for Zcash, it claimed it will support both shielded and unshielded keys. However, it claimed it will only allow unshielded withdrawals.

In addition, on top of adding Zcash for New York residents, Coinbase also added support for the dollar-linked USDC stablecoin. The stablecoin was first listed on Coinbase and Circle Financial as part of the CENTRE consortium in 2018.

Additionally, Coinbase has been expanding its list of supported tokens in New York recently. Back in 2019, the exchange added several new coins to New York users to exchange and trade; including XRP, Dai (DAI), Stellar Lumens (XLM), and Chainlink (LINK).
