<span style="font-weight: 400">Troy Hunt, a security researcher behind data breach index site “Have I been pwn;  reported that password data, personal and private information of more than 2.2 million users of two sites were dumped online. The compromised data as confirmed by Troy belong to accounts of RuneScape bot provider EpicBot and <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/non-custodian-crypto-wallet-shapeshift-integrates-with-portis-wallet/"><strong>crypto wallets</strong></a>, Gatehub.  </span>

<h2><b>A total of 2.2 million accounts were breached</b></h2>
<span style="font-weight: 400">According to a statement by Hunt, the first haul included personal information from 1.4 million Gatehub crypto wallet user accounts. The second haul consisted of more than 800,000 user accounts; on one of the world’s most secure RuneScape bot providers, EpicBot. Breached information reportedly included registered passwords, email addresses, 2-factor authentication keys, wallet hashes and mnemonic phrases. Officials at Gatehub claimed the wallet hashes were fortunately not accessible. However, these is according to information suggested by investigators. </span>

<h2><b>100 XRP Ledger Wallets</b></h2>
<span style="font-weight: 400">Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Gatehub has endured a data breach. Back in June,  cyber terrorists reportedly compromised upto 100 XRP ledger wallets; resulting in nearly $10 million in reported lost funds. In addition, Gatehub released a warning in June; telling users to beware of an ongoing phishing scam campaign targeting its crypto wallet users.  In fact, the firm noted that several wallet users had received malicious emails from addresses that looked like emanating from Gatehub: ( @gatehub.com and Gategub.net. )</span>

<span style="font-weight: 400">It is not the first time Gatehub has to endure a data breach. In June, hackers were reportedly able to </span><a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/report-nearly-10-million-in-xrp-stolen-in-gatehub-hack"><span style="font-weight: 400">compromise</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> around 100 XRP Ledger wallets, which resulted in nearly $10 million in stolen funds.  Regarding the latest developments of the recent data breach, Gatehub stated that it would provide more in depth guidelines on what steps to take. </span>
