The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China asks for an assessment on guidance drafted for standardizing data security in blockchain and other emerging technologies.

The ministry published a <a href="https://cointelegraph.com/news/chinese-govt-seeks-feedback-on-data-security-standards-for-blockchain-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">document</a> on April 10, 2020, demonstrating that in a recent time period, data is a basic strategic resource for the nation. The ministry also mentioned in the document that data has also become an innovative element in social production.
<h2>Emerging Risks In Internet Sector</h2>
Although stimulating the development of telecom and internet sectors of China is beneficial for the digital economy of the country, the developers and the government should understand that there are many emerging complex and severe risks and challenges, which needed to be handled properly.

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information technology of China wanted to ramp up the formulation of standardized data security assurance system, therefore, it called for a meeting. In the meeting, the ministry sought feedback on the guidance drafted by it for securing a rational and orderly flow of network data in the digital economy.

The document basically talks about the importance of developing security standards in next-generation technologies like blockchain, 5G etc.
<h2>China Supports Blockchain Industry</h2>
The ministry has emphasised on three key dimensions for security <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/list-of-top-blockchain-development-companies-to-watchout-for-in-2020/">development for blockchain</a>, which includes application services, system design and basic components like network communication.

According to a report, the blockchain sector would mainly focus on data privacy, secure digital asset storage and protecting network interactions, during standardization.

The standardization guide drafted by the ministry has five items that are focused on blockchain.

Since early 2016, the Ministry of Industry and Information technology of China has been working on the developments of standards for the blockchain industry, as it started working on domestic blockchain standardization.

The secretary-general of the China Blockchain Technology and Industry Development Forum,  Zhou Ping, who also works for ministry has published atleast 10 international blockchain standards in 2018.
