The <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/japanese-exchanges-asks-for-cryptocurrency-tax-reforms/">Japanese</a> Amazon, Rakuten, has publicly announced the launch of its cryptocurrency exchange, Rakuten Wallet.

According to a <a href="https://global.rakuten.com/corp/news/press/2019/0819_02.html">press release</a> on Monday 19 august, Rakuten wallet said spot trading of three digital currencies is now available. The three cryptocurrencies available at the moment are Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).

Moreover, the company is planning to launch a mandatory app for both iOS and android. The app will be mandatory for withdrawals and deposits. According to the press release:

Back in august 2018, Rakuten bought everybody’s Bitcoin for a sum of $2.4 million. The firms executives had pre announced the launch back in April but progress stalled.

Furthermore, security of digital assets remains the firm’s top priority. Cryptocurrency exchange hacks have been very rapid in the region. Rakuten confirmed customer funds will be held separate from the company’s holdings in a dedicated trust account. Cryptocurrencies will be stored in cold wallets with more security measures such as multi-signature systems with two-step authentication. In addition, the firm has partnered with Blockchain security firm, Cipher Trace, to help strengthen anti-money laundry security.

Importantly, the service will be available in local currency; the Japanese Yen. As per the announcement, additional features will be available for example confirmations of deposits, sales and real time chatting. More importantly, the firm will not charge fees for opening or managing account, selling or purchasing cryptocurrencies or depositing fiat.
