The hacker has now leaked the stolen information on RaidForums, a marketplace for buying, selling, and sharing hacked information. The hacked Ledger database includes personal data such as emails, physical addresses, and phone numbers.

Data of Hacked Ledger Customers Released on RaidForums

In June 2020, there was a data breach of hardware wallet provider Ledger where attackers stole the personal data of customers and subscribers. The hardware wallet company at that time confirmed that the stolen data contained information such as email addresses full names, postal addresses, phone numbers, and details related to products ordered by customers.

5 months later the leaked information can be found on an infamous hacker forum, RaidForums. The stolen database, however, can be already found on several marketplaces on the dark web since the initial hack.

Ledger officially took to notify today to warn its users to never share their 24-word recovery phrase with anyone, even if they are pretending to be a representative of Ledger.

The company has also set up a webpage where users can report the details of phishing attacks. At the time of the original hack, Ledger notified France’s Data Protection Authority, the CNIL.

Hacked Database Includes 270,000 Physical Addresses

The initial ledger hack contained a data breach of over 9,500 customers. However, the latest data dump reveals that the stolen information contains personal information larger than 9,500 customers. It also includes a million email addresses with over 270,000 physical addresses and phone numbers.

The June attack was targeted at Ledger’s marketing and e-commerce database, signifying that only contact and order details were involved. However, no financial information, recovery phrases, or keys were exposed in the hacking attack.  The hackers were also able to access the e-commerce database of Ledger using a (since disabled) API key.
