The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has become the latest victim of a Twitter hack on September 02. The account named narendramodi_in has been targeted by the John Wick group.
According to the report, the twitter account of Narendra Modi was associated with his website and mobile app as well. This hack took place to promote a crypto scam in which hackers asked people to make crypto donations.
As the major purpose of this hack was to promote a crypto scam, several tweets were also posted from the account of Narendra Modi. These tweets asked his followers to donate to the PM National Relief Fund for Covid-19. Along with this, the hackers have also mentioned two wallet addresses for both Bitcoin and Ethereum.
However, it is reported that none of those accounts has received any funds. This cybercrime group has also stated that they were not responsible for the recent Paytm Mall hack.
On August 30, several hackers had gained access to the Paytm Mall. However, the e-commerce giant has claimed that none of the company’s data was compromised in this recent hack.
Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is not the only one who has been targeted in this type of attack. Back on July 15, the Twitter accounts of around 130 high-profile personalities were targeted. Among all these accounts, the account of former US President Barack Obama was the most prominent one. That hack was also meant to promote a crypto scam. However, the authorities have arrested a 17-year-old who is alleged to be the mastermind of this attack along with two others. The investigation is still going on regarding this attack and the authorities are currently investigating the fourth hacker who was involved in this attack.
