On 12 February, the Seoul metropolitan government and Korean financial services commission <a href="http://www.fsc.go.kr/info/ntc_nots_view.jsp?menu=7210300&amp;bbsid=BBS0032&amp;no=37591">declared</a> plans to spend $16 million in training digital finance experts for four years. The application period to win the grant would be from 4 March to 6 March. South Korea has made several breakthroughs in the blockchain. Earlier, South Korea's<a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/south-koreas-postech-ready-to-issue-blockchain-stored-diplomas"> POSTECH</a> (Pohang University of Science and Technology) began an initiative to offer diplomas stored on blockchain technology to its new graduates.
<h2>What The New Program Is All About</h2>
The Financial Service Commission stated growth in demand for specialists in financial technology. The program intended to assure educational opportunities for the new generation of fintech specialists. 

The program would be going to start by 2020 and would continue until 2023. It would be conducted in the financial centre in Yeouido district in the capital, Seoul. The program was opened for the employees at financial firms, fintech companies founders and other job aspirants in the financial sector. 

There were two curriculums for candidates to choose from non-degree and degree programs. The program of Master's degree would hire 80 students a year, while the non-degree digital finance professional training program would be opened to 160 students with limited financial support. 

The course contents were hands-on courses and advanced theories for an exhaustive study in areas related to digital finance, including cloud, big data and<a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto-tutorial/blockchain/"> blockchain</a>. 
<h2>South Korea Is Willing To Expand The Fintech Sector</h2>
Recently in two years, the Korean Financial Services Commission has made significant breakthroughs in fintech legislation, including the Fintech Innovation Support Act, the Special Act on Internet-only Banks, and the Act on Peer-to-Peer Lending. In the same declaration, the Financial Services Commission cited that:
<blockquote>"The regulatory sandbox was started under the Fintech Innovation Support Act, and as of 18 December 2019, a total of 77 'innovative financial services' were nominated, for testing their thoughts with regulatory exemptions. Further, the government would extend the fintech industry in areas like private data business and open banking in the coming years."</blockquote>
