The ERC-1155 token is available for use by the <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/clic-inc-and-opporty-announce-ethereum-as-the-new-cash-out-option/">Ethereum</a> developer community, as it is supported as the official platform standard.

The information was released on June 17 by the co-founder and CTO of the decentralized <a href="https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=2ahUKEwi3qIey0ovjAhUCYo8KHeElB3wQFjAAegQIBRAB&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fenjincoin.io%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw22gNdzxi8G_2lScjlfn8qN">Enjin</a> games platform, Witek Radomski, who points out that the design of the token is complete, after having undergone 50 reviews and 400 comments from members of the Ethereum community for one year.

Radomski, who in June 2018 proposed the ERC-1155 with Andrew Cooke, highlights among the main features of the token the fact that it offers the possibility to create both fungible and nonfungible (unique) assets in a single intelligent contract. It thus becomes an alternative to the ERC-20 and ERC-721 standards, which require a separate contract for each token (ERC-20), or a token index (ERC-721).

In this way, thanks to this ability to create both types of assets, game developers will be able to create hundreds or thousands of elements in a single contract without having to create redundant code for each of them. This is an advantageous proposal for the development of games for blockchain, because, in addition to the different characters involved in a game, there are weapons, suits, attributes and properties, and all these elements are configurable according to different scenarios and levels.
Some features
The developer explains that Ethereum's new standard allows multiple tokens to be sent in a single transaction, which means that operations are done more quickly, avoiding the need to wait for each block in private transfers. Also, gas cost savings are generated, and the ability to produce mass tokens with minimal effort is increased. In that sense, it is also mentioned as an advantage of the avoidance of duplicate codes that usually occurs with the ERC-20 and ERC-721.

To exemplify this fact, Radomski relates the experience with the ERC-1155 standard of some game developers. He says that Sandbox developer Ronan Sandford was able to coin more than 1,500 tokens in one block while Horizon Games developer Phillippe Castonguay used a technique that stores 16 low-resolution tokens in a single ID (which he called Balance Packing) to achieve an 80 to 90% gas savings compared to regular transfers.

Besides, he claims that the standard is also useful for atomic exchanges:

Thus, with the new standard, several groups of tokens can be exchanged simultaneously in a single operation executed in two steps, while with the ERC-20 and ERC-721 standards, four steps are required.

Besides, the token ensures that the event logs issued by the smart contract provide sufficient data to create an accurate record of all current token balances. This is because a database can give indexed and categorized searches for each ERC-1155. Radomski explains that this feature will become increasingly valuable as the Ethereum ecosystem continues to grow.

According to data released by Enjin last March, so far more than 45 games, applications and websites using ERC-1155 have been created, which is why full support for these tokens was added to the Ethereum browser, EnjinX, later that month.
