Earlier it was thought that the deletion of videos was targeted purge by individuals, but in the following days, it became clear that YouTube was indeed behind the removal. Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, had reacted to the purge after a twitter user Christian Peel highlighted that one of the videos talking about Ethereum's roadmap from 2016 had been removed as well.

The ethereum co-founder then replied with uneasiness. Buterin emphasized the advantage of quick and early response before the problem intensifies. He sounded anxious, given the fact that the world's largest video hosting platform could flag a simple Question and Answer on Ethereum roadmap. Conclusively, he stated that this must be a clear hint for the crypto community and they must start looking for alternatives. Since the emergence of the ordeal, several cryptocurrency enthusiasts have been demanding to create a new video content sharing platform which is decentralized and restrain YouTube’s wrong move against cryptocurrency.
