A new community site set up which has been formed to take action against <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/fluree-to-develop-blockchain-technology-for-us-air-force/">blockchain</a> fraud has stated that in the year 2019, the Ripply Army transferred over 8.5 million XRP to known fake airdrops and YouTube giveaway scams.

On April 23, 2020, Xrplorer, the data aggregator of XRP, <a href="https://twitter.com/xrplorer/status/1253275697038196736" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweeted</a> that in the year 2019, a total of 6 million tokens have been withdrawn by the XRP holders, later they transferred it to those addresses which have been linked with the giveaway scams.
<h2>Xrplorer, A New Data Aggregator</h2>
The XRP data aggregator, which is still in beta, further mentioned that in the year 2020, around 3 million XRP holders did the same thing.

On April 22, 2020, Xrplorer notified, “According to our data, <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/top-faq-about-xrp-everything-you-need-to-know-about-ripple/">XRP</a> accounts associated with these “giveaway” scams are in possession of at least ~5.9M XRP with many funds laundered every day through exchanges and swap services”.

Although the Xrplorer has given information regarding fake giveaways and the airdrops, the industry is not depending on it wholly, because it is a new source of information.
<h2>XRP Scam Through YouTube</h2>
The original name of the data providing site is XRP Forensic, which has been formed to combat the fraudulent activities happening on the XRP Ledger.

Recently, an important XRP scam came in limelight, which included the CEO of Ripple Brad Garlinghouse. A fake YouTube channel posted a video that features the Ripple CEO, he was talking about fake technologies in the crypto industry. When the video was inspected thoroughly, a link with fake airdrop was found in the description.

The fake airdrop asked its viewers to fire some XRP tokens to the scammers and in return, they would get 50 million XRPs in giveaways.

Till the crypto community member reported the scam, YouTube did not take any action against the video. The day channel was banned from YouTube it had 342,000 subscribers and over 14,000 people watched the video featuring Ripple CEO.
