The Internet of Things (IoT) blockchain network Helium is now back up and running following a four-hour outage caused by a failure in the Consensus Group.
<h2>Helium Resumes New Block Production</h2>
According to an update from Helium, new block production started with block number 1435693 at 1:45 pm ET on July 11. The team also assured that it's going to monitor the chain throughout the day by working closely with validator operators to ensure they were synced correctly.

This comes after the Consensus Group <a href="https://status.helium.com/incidents/mpdrp34rlyfw" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">stopped</a> producing blocks at block height 1435692 on the Helium network at 10:20 am EDT. Due to this, token transfers could not be completed, and miner rewards were stopped. However, associated devices with the network remained unaffected.

Following the news, Helium's native HNT token is down 4.3% over the past 24 hours and currently trading at $8.70. However, the token is currently down 84% from its November 2021 all-time high amid the wider bearish market.

Helium is a blockchain-based protocol that has been garnering a lot of popularity for the past few months mostly for being one of the few crypto projects tapping into the Internet of Things (IoT) industry, which is worth a whopping $380 billion.

The blockchain-based protocol runs on a wireless global network of IoT devices and provides them with long-range connectivity via Helium Hotspots. When users plug a hotspot into an outlet and run it, they start mining HNT, which is rewarded to them as an incentive.
