AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron has announced that the world’s largest movie theatre chain is going to start accepting the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency in the next 60-120 days. Earlier in October, Aron said that his company will accept leading meme coin dogecoin for the purchase of gift cards worth up to $200 per day.
Sharing a tweet on Tuesday, AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron stated that crypto payment processing services firm BitPay will start accepting Shiba Inu and that his company will be the first to use the service. He initially teased the so-called Dogecoin killer being added as a new payment option earlier this month after running a Twitter poll to find out about his followers' preferences.
Recently, AMC started accepting Bitcoin and several major altcoins such as Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin adding that paying for tickets with Dogecoin would soon be available as well. Shortly after the company dabbled with DOGE, Aron carried out a poll to determine whether the firm should add the self-proclaimed DOGE killer Shiba Inu.
As most people voted with “yes,” Aron updated during a Q3 earnings call saying that SHIB will indeed become a payment option but did not provide the exact timing until now. In a more recent update on his Twitter page, he informed that SHIB will be available in the next 60-120 days.
As this news brings a leap of serene atmosphere to the Shiba community, Gemini exchange CEO, Tyler Winklevoss also expressed his enthusiasm seeing Aron's update.
Last week, BitPay published a survey to find out what coin should be added to its platform next with Shiba Inu, Cardano, Solana, and Chainlink being among the available options. SHIB is down 8.3 percent over the last 24 hours and is currently trading at $0.00004843 from the past 24 hours.
