Anthony Hopkins’ new sci-thriller, Zero Contact, will become the world’s first movie to be distributed as a nonfungible token (NFT) on September 24. The feature film will skip a theatrical release and make a digital debut via 11 tokens that will be auctioned on the OpenSea <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/opensea-admits-its-employee-used-insider-knowledge-to-buy-nfts/">marketplace</a>.

A movie made virtually during the pandemic and starring academy award-winning actor Anthony Hopkins will be auctioned on the <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/opensea-becomes-first-nft-marketplace-to-surpass-1-billion-in-monthly-volumes/">OpenSea NFT marketplace</a> on September 24.

The first 11 tokens containing the limited edition film and other content will be auctioned on OpenSea. The distribution will be led by Vuele, a direct-to-customer NFT viewing and distribution platform, established in August.

Following the initial sale, Vuele will offer another 2,500 NFTs of the movie in October, which can be traded or sold on the platform by owners. Zero Contact will also be released in theatres and on streaming platforms, but cast interviews and outtakes would be exclusive to the NFTs.

“We expect to achieve deep fan engagement from fans of this genre of movie or the cast and crew of the movie. We also expect to broaden the [scope of] NFT purchasers to [include] movie collectors,” Vuele co-founder Cameron Chell told <a href="https://www.scmp.com/tech/tech-trends/article/3148953/anthony-hopkins-sci-fi-thriller-zero-contact-gets-nft-debut-vuele?module=perpetual_scroll&amp;pgtype=article&amp;campaign=3148953" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">South China Morning Post</a>.

He added that the first winner of the auction will get a chance to participate in the film’s theatrical release, although he did not elaborate on how that would work. 
<h2>Vuele Looking to Attract Big Budget Films</h2>
During an interview with SCMP, Chell emphasized that Vuele hopes to offer several feature films and exclusive content through its NFTs. 

“Having NFTs come out first, with exclusive content to a limited audience that’s able to see the movie, will hopefully drive a groundswell [of interest] through word of mouth. It should drive theatre and streaming attendance.”

He also said that the platform would like to attract big-budget movies with large fan bases and star-driven films while adding that he expects NFTs to play a bigger role in movie financing in the future.
