Major cryptocurrency exchange Binance listed Ireland as part of its plans to establish a number of headquarters across the world, according to CEO Chagpeng Zhao.
<h2><strong>Binance Wants to Set up HQ in Ireland</strong></h2>
On Oct. 6 report Irish media outlet Independent reported that Binance had established three subsidiaries in the country on Sept. 27, Binance (APAC) Holdings, Binance (Services) Holdings, and Binance Technologies with CZ listed as the director for each.

In an <a href="https://www.reuters.com/technology/binance-ceo-says-ireland-is-part-its-hq-plans-2021-10-07/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">interview</a> the next day, CZ said that Binance is currently “in the process of establishing a few headquarters in different parts of the world.” When asked if Ireland was part of Binance’s plans for formal headquarters, CZ said, “Yes, it does.” adding "Historically, we claim that we don't have headquarters,”:
<blockquote><em>“When we first started we wanted to embrace the decentralized principles, no headquarters, work all around the world, no borders. It's very clear now to run a centralized exchange, you need a centralized, legal entity structure behind it."</em></blockquote>
On Sept. 10 and Sept. 13, Binance’s CEO, <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/binance-us-targets-ipo-listing-in-three-years-changpeng-zhao/">Changpeng Zhao</a> reportedly signed registration documents for the three firms. The firms were established on Binance’s behalf by Irish law firm Mason Hayes &amp; Curran.
<h2><strong>Binance Has No Central Headquarters</strong></h2>
Despite being a centralized exchange, Binance has no specific headquarters with its main markets being in China and Asia. Recently it lost a part of the market as the company announced that it would block customers from China’s mainland and Singapore following government restrictions that the Chinese government put in place in late September.

Earlier this year, various U.K. banks including Barclay’s, HSBC, and Santander blocked their customers from making use of the exchange. Amid mounting regulatory scrutinies such as Australia, the U.S., and the U.K. around the world, Binance has said it would set up headquarters and take a more proactive approach to <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/binance-ceo-changpeng-zhao-wants-to-operate-with-local-regulators/">engage with regulators</a>.
