Blockchain Game Developer, Sky Mavis Raises $1.5m In Fundraising Round Led by Animoca Brands
Sky Mavis, a Vietnamese blockchain game developer, has officially closed a fundraising round of $1,465,000. This is in accordance to a report on Friday by a local news outlet, Tech in Asia.
Animoca Brands, a company that leverages gamification, and blockchain to develop and publish mobile products, led the fundraising round. Other companies that participated in the event include, ConsenSys, Pangea Blockchain Fund, blockchain-focused Hashed, and 500 Startups.
Sky Mavis, per the report, plans to enhance better the development of its blockchain game known as Axie Infinity. The game is a digital pet universe where players can raise, trade, and battle cute creatures dubbed Axies.
According to DappRadar.com and Dapp.com, Axis Infinity is one of the biggest grossing blockchain-powered games of all time.
One of the players eloquently said:
"The brilliance of Axie Infinity is that the platform is providing a canvas that incentivizes users to build and add value to the game world through crypto-economic incentives."
In addition to accelerating the development of the Axie Infinity universe; Sky Mavis plans to establish more technology required in creating fun and practical applications based on blockchain for users.
Sky Mavis Plans on Expansion
"We now have more resources to expand the team and deliver new features at an expedited rate. We are getting advice, feedback and support from some amazing new allies which will help us take Axie Infinity to the next level." Sky Mavis said.
The company believes that more funding opens up many new doors and more attention for the Axie universe. Not only to the press and influencers but also to attract new members to the Axie team.
By 2020, the game developer hoped to launch an amazing mobile application in the first half. The app aims at introducing a "play to earn" feature to a new wave of blockchain users.
