Europe’s largest telecoms company Deutsche Telekom has shown its support on the Polkadot network by purchasing an undisclosed sum of DOT tokens. Additionally, the company will also become a Polkadot (DOT) network validator, running several nodes both privately and publicly.

Deutsche Telekom AG through one of its subsidiaries, T-Systems Multimedia Solutions (MMS) is <a href="https://www.telekom.com/en/media/media-information/archive/t-systems-mms-supports-polkadot-blockchain-ecosystem--643644" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">set</a> to become a Polkadot validator just days after the first Polkadot parachains went live. This is the fourth blockchain platform Deutsche Telekom is working with the first for its subsidiary T-Systems.

In addition to running numerous private and public validators for the Polkadot network, the company has also purchased a “significant” amount of Polkadot’s native cryptocurrency, DOT. The company has also revealed staking in blockchain platforms like Chainlink; Dapper Labs’s Flow blockchain; and Celo, a mobile-first payment network.

After five years of technical development, the open-source blockchain platform announced last week the launch of the first parachains to allow individual blockchains running in parallel within the Polkadot ecosystem, on its network.

Launched in May 2020, Polkadot (<a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/polkadot-launches-parachains-expanding-scalability/">DOT</a>) aims to operate a "fragmented" multi-chain future to facilitate the interoperability of blockchain networks. This ensures the removal of entry barriers while fueling innovation decentralization and bringing Web3 to life.

DOT is currently trading at $26, having gained 6.9 percent in the past 24 hours.
