After a spate of crypto-related news this year, the description given to the Tesla CEO seems accurate. He had the foresight to invest half a billion dollars in Bitcoin in February and then turned against it, citing the currency's environmental impact. Musk's enthusiasm in humor cryptocurrencies like Dogecoin has also significantly influenced the crypto markets.

His u-turn on Bitcoin, which at first seemed to be an effort to demonize the crypto business, now seems to be his most significant gift to the crypto industry.
