The former Seminole County Tax Collector in Florida, Joel Greenberg, drafted a bill of $65,860 in the year 2019, in the name of the office to purchase equipment for his own blockchain company. However, he returned the money to the office via cheques series.

Although Greenberg has been to right his wrongs secretly, unfortunately, the federal agencies imposed several charges on him.
<h2>Charges Imposed On Joel Greenberg</h2>
The former Seminole County Tax Collector was accused of stalking a political opponent, making fake identification at the office and stealing an old driving license.

Recently, Orlando Sentinel, a local news outlet in Florida, <a href="https://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/seminole-county/os-ne-seminole-tax-collector-greenberg-blockchain-20200815-b753eraokjbk5fkksat2qbqmhe-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> a report stating, “Joel Greenberg used the $65,860 to buy computer servers for Government Blockchain Systems LLC, a company that he started to capitalize on blockchain technology.”

However, in June 2020, the blockchain company of Greenburg was terminated.
<h2>Tax Collector’s Office Refund $25,000</h2>
On September 09, 2019, the Tax Collector’s office was billed with $65,860 by the Government Blockchain Systems LLC for offering 20 servers. The very next day the office prepared a cheque in the name of Government Blockchain Systems LLC.

The receipt handed over by the company indicated that out of 20 servers, 15 had been purchased by the Tax Collector’s office.

According to the report, the price of the total received server was $33,007.90 but the receipt also included the transportation charges which were $7,852.10. The total amount paid by the office was $40,860. 

Greenberg paid the remaining $25,000 from the Fairwinds Credit Union, where his personal account exists.

On February 11, Greenberg sent an email to the accounting supervisor at Tax Collector’s office stating that $40,860 had been paid through cheque and the remaining balance of $25,000 has been refunded.

However, till now it is not clear what made Greenberg refund the stolen funds. 

In September 2019, Sentinel reported that Greenberg has alleged the Tax Collector’s office has taken over his private company.
