Video game retailer GameStop has become the latest to ride the NFT wave, as the company prepares to launch its very own marketplace. According to a recent update on its <a href="https://nft.gamestop.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">official site</a>, the company has put up an application form and is now inviting possible content creators to contribute to the platform.

GameStop is now accepting applications for its upcoming NFT marketplace. Interested users can submit a request to join the site as an NFT creator by completing an online form, which asks questions like whether the applicant is an independent artist or a company representative.

The landing page includes basic questions like "why do you want to make NFTs for our platform?" and requires links to previously-created content. The form also asks if they have created any NFTs in the past and whether they have plans to create NFTs in collaboration with GameStop.

From the look of it, this seems like the company is selective about the hiring process rather than a platform open to any artists, like OpenSea or <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/rarible-rari-and-the-graph-grt-technical-analysis-are-bears-losing-momentum/">Rarible</a>.

While a launch date for the NFT marketplace has not yet been announced, the latest update reveals that the company will “open up the NFT minting access on a rolling basis.”

Not much is known about GameStop’s upcoming NFT platform. However, Loopring’s GitHub code suggests that GameStop will use the second-layer network. But this has not been confirmed by either entity.
