A popular internet video conferencing site, Zoom was recently been targeted by the hackers. A report by BleepingComputer, <a href="https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/over-500-000-zoom-accounts-sold-on-hacker-forums-the-dark-web/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> on April 13, 2020, stated that the hackers have sold over 500,000 accounts on the site, in the darknet and hacking forum for less than a penny each. The hackers even sold some accounts for free also.

The BleepingComputer report further mentioned, “These credentials are gathered through credential stuffing attacks where threat actors attempt to login to Zoom using accounts leaked in older data breaches”.
<h2>Zoom Account Details On Hackers Forum</h2>
Recently, Cyble, a cybersecurity intelligence firm, has stated that it discovered the hackers were posting details of Zoom accounts i.e., passwords, email addresses and personal meeting URLs at hackers forum to improve their reputation in the hackers' community. The intelligence firm further stated that when its researchers checked some of the credentials they found to be valid.

According to Cyble, the main source of hacking was the credentials only. While explaining the process, the firm stated that the hacker uses the same details of the accounts it has breached earlier on the new platform and use the same credentials, assuming that most people do not change their passwords for different accounts.
<h2>Always Choose Different Credential</h2>
A report suggested that during the investigation it was found that most people did not change the credentials of their account for a long time because of which the hackers were able to breach into their Zoom account.

It has been speculated that the hackers could again try to breach into some other person’s account via new services, as they still have the details, therefore, it would be better if the people start using unique credentials for their different account services.

The report added that the Zoom is partially responsible for this hacking because it did not use the security features to stop this. However, the teleconferencing app has been facing criticism from the past few weeks, it even got blacklisted from several organizations because of the privacy issue.
