Finally, the IOTA network has been relaunched after almost a month of layoff following the Feb. 12 <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/iota-ceases-network-amid-investigations-of-trinity-wallet-attack/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">massive server hack</a> that resulted in a  two million dollars loss, according to a<a href="https://blog.iota.org/protecting-user-tokens-and-rebooting-the-coordinator-95ff96625186" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener"> blog post </a>on March 10.

Following the attack on IOTA’s Trinity wallet, the network was shut down on the same day to avert further attacks on the platform. About 50 Trinity wallet suffered a total loss of approximately $2 million.

In particular, <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/second-bzx-attack-sees-645k-worth-of-eth-stolen/">attackers</a> gained access to users account’s keys through Trinity wallet’s desktop version. The attack was attributed to IOTA’s payments partner firm, Moonpay as the direct cause of the hack.

Moving forward, as per the press release, the IOTA foundation has moved its users to fresh accounts and recommenced the IOTA transaction confirmation system. Moreover, users were given a new tool to allow the transition to the fresh and secured accounts.

Additionally, the foundation offered a response to the February attack to its users. It laid down its plan on how it will prevent potential attacks and protect its clients’ accounts. The post reads:
<blockquote>"The IOTA Foundation is overhauling its internal processes, with upcoming changes to software security practices, improvements to our security capabilities and resources, and expansion of our efforts in education and best practices for any software that handles user accounts on the IOTA network."</blockquote>
At the moment, the foundation is focused on executing the Coodicide protocol upgrade to get rid of the network’s Coordinator. This upgrade will enable the foundation to decentralize its network without altering its security protocol.
<h2>Trinity Wallet attackers yet to be identified</h2>
On the blog post, IOTA Foundation confirmed that the February 12 Trinity <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/crypto/rakuten-wallet-to-launch-cryptocurrency-margin-trading/">wallet</a> attackers were yet to be identified. However, the foundation noted that it is working closely; with the relevant bodies and law enforcement to identify and track them.

On March 6, the founder of IOTA Foundation David Sønstebø announced that he will fully repay the loss that users suffered following the attack.
