In the official description, La Liga Football League has partnered with fantasy football platform Sorare, in order to launch Non-Fungible tokens (NFTs) for its players. Now, football fans, collectors, and fantasy football players will now be able to trade and play with digital cards of players from La Liga with Sorare.
As described in the official description of Sorare, it is a unique game experience where users can own their game, build real-world connections and protect and control their assets in a secure space.
Its ambition is to build the game within the game, combining NFT technology with sports cards and a fantasy game.
It has been revealed that stars such as Gerard Pique, Rio Ferdinand, and Antoine Griezmann have also signed on to promote the platform.
The partnership is a notable development of La Liga, as it moves into the NFT space for the first time. In addition to this, it should be noted that the partnership opens up a new revenue stream for La Liga Clubs by establishing NFTs as a new licensing category.
Sorare released a statement that said its gaming experience will be helping La Liga and its clubs stretch their international brands by reaching new audiences including those residing in the US and Asia, where Sorare is thriving.
The recent partnership with one of the biggest leagues in the world represents one of the major milestones of Sorare as the deal covers both the first and second divisions, La Liga Santander and La Liga Smartbank.
Along with this, it should be noted that the partnership means that Sorare has some of the top 100 clubs in the world under license.
Sorare also stated that it focuses to partner with each of the top 20 football leagues by the end of next year.
