Sotheby's has announced its collaboration with the healthcare advocate in public and the nonprofit organization Sostenuto by selling off its latest NFT <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/crypto-group-failed-to-get-the-us-constitution-copy-in-record-breaking-sothebys-auction/">collection</a> through Sotheby’s Metaverse auction. 

Sotheby is known as the luxury and the oldest art auction house. With all of its proceeds heading towards Sostenuto, the auction was given a title of 140 Collection, which is considered as the biggest NFT charity auction ever held by Sotheby.

Being a part of the giveaway of 140 NFTs to 140 random followers in June this year, NFTs were originally gifted by Twitter. "The Besties" was the vocation given to its <a href="https://www.bullfrag.com/sothebys-metaverse-announces-largest-and-latest-nft-charity-auction/">recipients</a>. Seven of these Besties have been elected to sell the complete set of 7 NFTs and support Sostento’s frontline healthcare workers in their efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic and the opioid overdose crisis now.

As an NFT in March 2021, the NFT giveaway followed CEO of Twitter <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/on-friday-jack-dorsey-released-a-white-paper-detailing-his-decentralized-bitcoin-exchange/">Jack Dorsey's</a> $2.9 million sales of the first tweet ever on this platform. The COVID-19 response in Africa was aided through the proceeds of that specific sale.

Cassandra Hatton, Sotheby's Global Head of Science and Popular Culture, mentioned in an announcement shared to Cointelegraph that, along with the group of Besties who recognized the importance of their NFTs and are harnessing this power for a better cause and it was quite inspiring to work alongside the organization such as Sostenuto.
<h2>A Platform for Mission-Driven Charities</h2>
Cryptocurrency is now used and accepted as crypto funding among Sostento’s partners, who is Giving Block offering a platform for mission-driven charities, organizations, faith-based groups along with universities of all sizes. Before being invested directly in fulfilling their mission in terms of helping frontline healthcare workers in saving lives, these proceeds that were raised through this sale are preceded by the Giving Block, as noted by Sostendo’s CEO, Joe Agoda.

In terms of launching a dedicated marketplace for the NFTs, Sotheby’s Metaverse Sotheby is known to be the first auction house. This is a dedicated platform hosting all the NFT sales of Sotheby being launched last month.
