LayerX is developing this blockchain-based voting system to promote safe and secure elections in the city. The firm has also stated that both the cost and stability of the current electronic voting system needs proper attention.
According to LayerX, voting over the internet gets quite challenging and a lot of technical hurdles come along the way. Along with all the hurdles, the cost of voting devices is also very high which creates huge trouble. The announcement stated:
“LayerX researched and developed an electronic voting protocol that balances the transparency of the voting process and the confidentiality of voting records.”
The firm believes that xID will help the firm in strengthening the existing voting system of the firm. This will help them to verify the identity of the voters which will also ensure that only one ballot has been issued to each voter.
LayerX system has been developed in such a way that the users can easily check on their voting results. This will also help them to check on the voting process and determine whether the process was performed correctly or not. It is reported that Kaga officials are the first ones to declare their city as a blockchain city. The city has initiated this step to look after the declining population of the rural areas in the city. This is the reason why different enterprises from both private and public sectors are encouraged to use the innovative technology and hence they are now trying out the blockchain-based voting system.
