MakeMyTrip, an Indian online travel company, has created a non-fungible-token (NFT) collection of Indian tourist sites, making it the first Indian travel company.

"Virtual Vacations!" is an NFT series that intends to bring "a colorful meta-world vision of some of India's top travel spots," according to the business.

Each NFT includes photographs of some of India's most popular tourist spots.

The proceeds from the sale of the NFTs will be used to fund projects in India that promote sustainable tourism.

NFTs have been gaining traction in the tourism industry, with the "NFTicket" apparently selling for $1 million at auction, making it the most valuable ticket ever sold in commercial aviation history.

The NFTicket is a partnership between Air Europa and TravelX, a Spanish startup developing a blockchain-based distribution mechanism for the travel industry. The NFT also grants ownership of a work of art by Carlos Betancourt, a modern artist.

In March, MakeMyTrip announced the unveiling of digital artwork of renowned Indian destinations as part of its non-fungible-token (NFT) initiative. "Unravel the majestic landscapes of Goa, Ladakh, Orissa, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Kerala, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, and the Andaman Islands" in the first batch of these digitally produced, immersive artworks.

According to the company, each NFT will cost upwards of Rs 14,999. At least 25 tokens per artwork have been released, and they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Polygon Blockchain, a premier platform for Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development, was used to create these art pieces.
