In an interview to promote The Matrix Resurrections, Keanu Reeves shared his thoughts on HODLing crypto, NFTs, and the metaverse.
<h2><strong>Keanu Reeves 'Have a Little HODL'</strong></h2>
When asked in an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OK80eljWrs" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">interview</a> with The Verge if the Matrix Star was “into cryptocurrency personally,” Keanu Reeves said “a friend of mine bought some for me awhile back" and that he hasn’t done anything with it because "I haven't had to."

<em> "That's called HODL, when you just don't touch your crypto,"</em> interviewer Alex Heath explained to Reeves.<em> “Yeah, I have a little HODL.” </em>However, it remains unclear as to which specific cryptocurrencies he was gifted.

The studio behind the film <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/matrix-nft-drop-crashes-nifty-website-amid-high-demand/">The Matrix Resurrection</a>s film Warner Bros. pictures recently launched a series of 100,000 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) each priced for $50 to promote the film’s launch last month. Each NFT offered holders a choice to take either a red pill or a blue pill as a tribute to one of the film’s most historic moments.

However, Reeves expressed skepticism about NFTs during the interview. When asked what he thinks about “digital scarcity” and “things that can’t be copied,” the actor burst out laughing, saying "that is easily reproduced."

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are breaking new records. So far, people have spent over $9 billion in NFTs with total sales expected to reach $17.7 billion by the end of the year.
<h2><strong>Metaverse Should Not be Invented by Facebook</strong></h2>
On being asked about the metaverse, and what could be some of the potentials, Reeves said, <em>“Can we just not have metaverse be like invented by Facebook…the concept is way older. I’m just like, ‘c’mon, man.'"</em>

The term “metaverse” was initially coined back in the 1990s in a work by Neal Stephenson called “Snow Crash.” In October, Facebook changed its company name to<a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/facebook-rebrands-to-meta-with-plans-for-nft-support/"> 'Meta'</a> to reflect its serious intentions in building the metaverse. Prior to that, the social media giant dedicated a $50 million fund to "responsibly" develop the metaverse.
