Nexon America, the American subsidiary of South Korean video game publisher Nexon, is partnering with crypto payment processor BitPay to allow users to purchase in-game items with cryptocurrencies, according to a <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20211214005561/en/Nexon-America-Accepts-Cryptocurrencies-for-Purchase-of-In-Game-Items" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">press release</a> on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
<h2>Nexon America Now Accepts Crypto Payments</h2>
Nexon America’s game store will now allow its fans to buy in-game items with cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, Dogecoin, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Wrapped BTC, Binance USD, Dai, Gemini Dollar, Litecoin, Paxos Standard, and USD Coin.

Purchases will be made with quite a few Nexon franchises, together with MapleStory, KartRider, Mabinogi, Vindictus, V4, and others.

Commenting on the development, Owen Mahoney, President and CEO of NEXON Co., Ltd, said:

Nexon America General Manager Kenny Chang was quoted saying that the move to accept payments in cryptocurrency was motivated, at least in part, by player feedback:

<h2><strong>Nexon Bought $100 Million Worth Bitcoin</strong></h2>
<a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/bitpay-enables-merchant-payments-from-all-bitcoin-wallets/">BitPay</a> has built an intuitive interface that will manage players’ wallets and transactions where players can buy items at values set by Nexon with multiple payment options that include crypto. Stephen Pair, CEO of BitPay, said:

In April, Nexon bought $100 million worth of Bitcoin at an average price of $58,000, which was the biggest crypto investment for a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. However, the recent crypto payment feature is not connected to Nexon’s bitcoin holdings as the company will not acquire or hold cryptocurrencies related to this initiative.
