Celebrity management agency behind K-pop group BTS and pop sensation Justin Bieber is <a href="https://www.bloombergquint.com/business/bts-bieber-agency-eyes-nft-empire-with-stars-of-pop-and-sports" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">partnering</a> with South Korea’s largest crypto exchange Dunamu to create a new platform for the sale and trade of NFTs, expected to debut in the first half of next year.
<h2><strong>Company Behind BTS and Justin Bieber to Launch NFTs Soon</strong></h2>
After announcing last week a new blockchain business offering digital assets, South K-pop management agency Hybe has announced plans to expand its <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/nft-sales-volumes-exceed-10-billion-in-the-third-quarter/">NFT Marketplace</a> with celebrities not managed by the company.

The venture will be based in the United States and might expand to include pop stars and potentially even athletes. In collaboration with the Dunamu crypto exchange, the two companies want to be the leading player in the "popularisation of the global NFT market".

Hybe will first make the best out of the intellectual property it holds for its own artists and those affiliated with Hybe America before looking to expand its NFT <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/new-omnific-blockchain-studios-will-develop-entertainment-related-nfts/">ecosystem</a> with participation from other global stars as well.
<h2><strong>Towards an Eco-Friendly Approach to Non-Fungible Tokens Business</strong></h2>
Regarding the agency’s move into an energy-intensive business like blockchain technology, BTS fans, and other K-pop followers have voiced concerns about it on social media. BTS itself has actively advocated climate protection and participated in United Nations campaigns around the cause.

Clarifying on this, Dunamu released a statement, saying:
<blockquote><em>"Dunamu has been constantly searching for diversified solutions for the eco-friendly operation of the NFT business. We are already reviewing technical measures and policies in the process of cooperating with Hybe."</em></blockquote>
Hybe has been transforming itself from a K-pop management agency to a tech-first platform company and even created its own online fan community, called Weverse, in 2019. The app has drawn 41 million downloads from 235 countries and now counts 6.4 million monthly active users.  The platform connects fans with artists during the pandemic, helping Hybe generate tens of millions of dollars from live-streamed concerts.
