The Strategic Police Matters Unit (SPMU) of the OSCE Transnational Threat Department organized a five-day training program for law-enforcement agencies so that they could deal with the new psychoactive substances facilitated by Darkweb. The training program which concluded on February 21, 2020, was organized in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
The Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre (CARICC) and the Nizhniy Novgorod Academy of the Ministry of the Interior of Russia also supported the program.
Participant CountriesAs per the reports, the participants from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia were taught different techniques so that they could identify websites with malicious content and also could understand the functioning of Darkweb. They (participants) also learn how the Darkweb was using cryptocurrencies to facilitate drug-related or other crimes.
While talking about the training program, the Director of CARICC, Rustam Aziz Miralizoda said,
“The misuse of the Darkweb and cryptocurrencies represent an emerging challenge for the law enforcement of the CARICC Member states and it should be addressed through enhanced regional co-operation and international support.”
