Samsung is reportedly working on three-nanometer (3nm) chips foundry processing that can be utilized in Bitcoin (BTC) mining, enabling miners to operate faster and with less power consumption.

Samsung will <a href="https://www.thelec.net/news/articleView.html?idxno=4096" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">reportedly</a> start trial production of 3nm chips this week for application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), the most efficient equipment for bitcoin mining for mining bitcoin.

In comparison to the 5nm process, the first-generation 3nm technology can cut power usage by up to 45 percent, boost performance by 23 percent, and decrease area size by 16 percent. While the second-generation 3nm technology can only minimize power consumption by around half, increase performance by 30 percent, and minimize area by 35 percent.

<a href="https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-begins-chip-production-using-3nm-process-technology-with-gaa-architecture" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Commenting</a> on the development, Dr. Siyoung Choi, president and head of Samsung Electronics' Foundry Business, stated:

<h2>Samsung Already Booked Its First Customer</h2>
Samsung's first customer is a Chinese ASIC company known as PanSemi which designs ASICs for <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/white-rock-management-launches-first-us-bitcoin-mining-operation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mining bitcoin</a>. Qualcomm, Samsung's largest customer, had also booked the trial, and the two parties have agreed that the US company can request the trial at any time, as per reports.

Previously, Qualcomm had placed orders for 4nm chips. However, this was canceled past February due to a lack of production from Samsung. This caused Qualcomm to lean on another company, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC).
