Verisign Receives Patent For Blockchain Based Domain Names

Verisign which is a publicly-traded company has recently received a US patent. The firm has received this patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) which will be for the blockchain-powered domain names. It received the patent number 10,721,060 on July 21.

Verisign will help users to turn domains into blockchain address

While announcing the receiving of the patent, Verisign has also said that the users will be able to turn their traditional domain into the blockchain user address. It has been mentioned that in this new patent, there will be several benefits and technical advantages which will be associated with the Domain Name System (DNS). Now the users will be able to use the traditionally purchased domain names into the blockchain environment.

Along with this, the users will be able to interact with the participants of other networks. The domain names are going to be extremely user friendly as it won’t be using numbers so that it will be easy for the users to remember the addresses and to interact with other blockchain participants.

Management of public and private keys through DNS registry

It has been revealed that in this technique, there will be the management of both public and private keys through the DNS registry. There will be a blockchain network which will help to receive and store the data regarding the domain names. It will also enable a two-factor identification which will consult the blockchain for the blockchain network only which has been given. It is not something new which is coming to blockchain technology.

A lot of companies are collaborating with the crypto community in order to provide various crypto domains. Back in March 2020, Opera became the first major browser ever which has integrated crypto domain to its platform.
