<h2><strong>Bitfinex Launches Regulated STO Platform in Kazakhstan</strong></h2>
According to an official <a href="https://www.bitfinex.com/securities/posts/697" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">press release</a> on Sept 5, Bitfinex Securities is launching a new investment exchange based in Astana, Kazakhstan regulated by the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Authority.

The new platform will operate under the AIFC Fintech Lab, a regulatory sandbox established in the AIFC by the Astana Financial Services Authority in an effort to support the global development of the financial industry.

Bitfinex Securities will allow small and medium-sized companies to list their tokenized holdings or bonds and raise capital. At the same time, customers of the platform will be able to trade and invest in the tokenized securities.

The Bitfinex Securities platform will be available to trade 24/7 for investors to obtain access to a low-cost, high-performing, and global security trading market to trade their tokenized securities publicly.
<h2><strong>Platform Will Operate Under Conditional License</strong></h2>
Despite the platform being regulated by the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Authority, the exchange has a conditional investment exchange license from the authority where the platform will operate in a sandbox environment until the full license is granted.

Tim Aron, head of compliance at Bitfinex Securities, said, “We have to limit the number of capital raises at $15 million and the maximum number of customers at 1,000.”

While the platform will operate under Kazakhstan law, investors from different parts of the world can also trade various tokenized securities publicly. However, citizens residing in the U.S., Canada, Switzerland, Venezuela, Austria, and Italy are prohibited from using the platform, according to a <a href="https://www.bitfinex.com/legal/securities/terms" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">legal statement</a>.

Similarly, other jurisdictions subjected to an embargo by <a href="https://www.cryptoknowmics.com/news/kazakhstan-project-aims-to-allow-businesses-to-provide-crypto-investment-services/">Kazakhstan</a>, the U.S., British Virgin Islands, or the United Nations, including Iran, Cuba, the Crimea region are also prohibited from using the platform.
