The base maintenance margin is about to be reduced on BitMEX, a top crypto derivatives exchange. The platform has made this decision for its XBT and ETH series of products. From May 5 onwards, the trial would begin of the reduced rates. BitMEX also informs that before the ending of the trial period, it would get in touch with its customers a week early to inform them about it.

The new revised XBT rate on the crypto derivatives exchange is 0.40 now, and 0.80 is the new drop rate for Ethereum contact listed on the platform. A new trading entry from May 5 is being made on BitMEX called ETHUSDM20 Quanto Smart Contracts, and the base maintenance margin would be applicable on it too. For now, the initial margin requirement remains unaltered.

BitMEX confirms it will inform it's users 1 week before the trial ends and states that they're doing this in order to refine and brace the platform for a better reading experience, while also pay heed to customer's feedback.  A similar reduction was done just two weeks ago and the firm also announced that in the near future it would reduce initial margin requirement too with certain conditions.

The BitMEX platform is upping its game by keeping the bitcoin halving event in mind and is preparing the platform for a smooth glitch-free experience as a bull run looks set to be on the cards.

Also, the need is even greater now as it is no longer the top crypto derivatives exchange aa Binance stole it's spot recently. The platform surely realised that the competition is sky high and it needs to level up as Binance keeps making its position more solid.  The exchange registered it's all-time high volume ($16billion) just days ago.
